Heart Send

Thoughtfulness is something that many people think about, but often do not act upon.  It takes so little to be thoughtful and I feel it goes along way no matter when it takes place.  Here are just a few ideas about being thoughtful that I keep in my tool box.  I share these with you as a sample of the "Random Acts of Kindness" that I apply to my life daily.  These help me through the day, and make the day of those that are the recipients.

Even if you just do 1 or 2 of these a week, think of what a difference it will make.  You will actually feel good about yourself, but also realize just how meaningful it will be for those that you have emotionally touched.

Everyone loves to know that others are thinking about them, especially on their special day or even for no reason at all.  Because we still have the US Mail available to us we should take advantage of their services.  Getting something from someone who was thoughtful enough to "Take the Time" to write a special care or note is amazing and impressive.  Taking this kind of time out of your day will bring great rewards to you and the person on the receiving end.  Here are some tips on ways you can be thoughtful:
  • Card shopping.
    • The 99 cent stores offer cards (2 for $1)
    • Buy cards for all occasions (Birthday, Sympathy, Get Well, Congrats, Retirement, etc.)
    • Special event dates (Valentines, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, etc.)
    • Stock up on all of these cards and keep them on hand.
  • Always have Note cards available. (These are blank cards that you can write your own message)
  • Always check your calendars.
    • If there is a birthday coming up for a friend, relative or someone special in your life, take the time to personally send them a TIMELY card.
    • Pick out certain individuals in your list that you always want to share your thoughts with.
    • Keep a list that is always available to you with their addresses.
  • Be aware and pay attention
    • Things are happening all around you.  Whether it is a calendar reminder or learning that someone is depressed, sick or just got a promotion.  Pay attention how you might be able to make a difference and acknowledge that event
    • Don't procrastinate and send your card right away
This should be a no brainer and we should always react like the boy scout motto..."Be Prepared".  If you do your homework and shop for cards early and often you will "Be Prepared".  Now make it your new resolution this year to be more thoughtful from the Heart!
