Simmer Down

Have you ever been so inspired that you want to do everything at once?  I am going through that right now.  What is important is that you take this amazing anxiety in baby steps.  This is not to deflate your energy, but to be sure that you are putting things into perspective and getting the most value out of what your are so inspired to do.  Here are a few tips for keeping your inspiration in check so that you are really getting the true value of your endeavor.

  1. Be purposeful and clear about your objective
  2. Make sure it is focused
  3. Is it meeting your intention?
  4. Simplify, simplify, simplify

Always make sure you are clear about your objective.  Clarity is critical.  If you are unsure take a step back and get refocused.  Be sure that you are focusing in on exactly what you want not just for you but also for your customers and audience.  It is easy to get distracted.  Your research on topics may put you into information overload.  Do your best to narrow it down to only those things that you think are of the greatest value.  Stop what you are doing every so often to do a double check.  Is it meeting what you had intended?  It is so easy to get off track and a quick check to see if you are going in the direction you intended is crucial.  Simplify!  I know that when we get so inspired it is sometimes difficult to pull back.  Sometimes we just want to tell the world everything we have learned.  That is great, but remember just because you are passionate about your topic, your audience/customers need to be convinced.  This takes careful preparation.  In order for your audience to be just as passionate as you are takes care and feeding.  Overwhelming them may just cause them to glaze over and be at the point of no return.

Remember to be clear of your objective.  Stay focused with intent.  Simplify so that you will not overwhelm your clients, customers, and audiences.  If you keep these tips in mind and take baby steps you truly will be ahead of the game.
